Power Animal Q&A

Power animal is your helper to support you to grow so that you can flourish and blossom in your full unique potential. They can assist you in navigating life’s challenges and transitions, serving as your best companions. Power Animal is a compassionate guiding spirit, they manifest in the form of an animal and carry the qualities that we associate with their pieces. Whenever you have questions or doubts, you can seek their guidance and advice.  

For me, except for the advice in everyday life and support when I do healing sessions, I like to hug and dance and sing with my power animal in the non-ordinary reality. When I feel tired, we will swim together in the golden warm sea to charge up, or we will fly into a magnificent beautiful sky to relax. When I feel sad or down, they will cheer me up, play with me, and roll on the ground together. When I have a sleepless night, they will take me to a soft place to pamper to sleep.

In Shamanic and Indigenous cultures, Power Animals symbolize a part of our inner selves, often an aspect we’ve overlooked or need to supplement. They also serve as our personal spiritual guides, offering guidance when needed. Building a close connection with Power Animal can enrich your life and expand your spiritual abilities.

Some people discover their Power Animal early in life, while others do so later. Some encounter them in dreams, while others have a strong connection with a specific animal, perhaps even experiencing a rescue by an animal. There are numerous ways to discover your Power Animal, and it can impart various strengths and abilities.

You may reconnect to your Power Animals in various ways: during meditation, in visions, through dreams, through Shamanic rituals, or most commonly through the Shamanic drum journey I will guide you. 

Generally, in each life stage, you have one primary Power Animal, although other animal mentors may assist alongside your Power Animal. When you enter a new spiritual phase or life transformation, your primary Power Animal might step back to allow a more meaningful force to accompany you. At such times, you may feel the presence of a new Power Animal alongside your previous one. Your previous Power Animal doesn’t leave; they simply step aside and remain available when you need them.

The ‘power’ of your Power Animal doesn’t come from an individual animal but from the entire species. We are connecting to a collective consciousness and quality. For example, if your Power Animal is a bear, it doesn’t refer to a specific bear but represents the entire bear species. When you collaborate with your Power Animal, you learn to appreciate and acknowledge the entire species they represent, fostering a sense of protection and respect for the entire animal kingdom.

Spirit Guides v.s. Power Animals?

Spirit Guides refer to any spiritual beings that help us move toward positivity and enlightenment. They protect, guide, encourage, and inspire us. We may have several Spirit Guides throughout our lives, although we may not always be aware of them. Some Spirit Guides have been with us since childhood, while others may appear during specific life stages, aiding us through challenging transitions. Spirit Guides can take various forms, including religious figures, angels, mentors, ancestors, elves, or animals. Animal Spirit Guides, known in Indigenous or Shamanic cultures as Power Animals.

Can a unicorn be a power animal? 

Yes. Power Animals can be mammals, birds, reptiles, or mythical creatures such as unicorns and dragons, even though they lack physical representation in the material world. We can understand it as that they live in the other dimensions. We only encounter them in meditative states or dreams. They exist, just not in our ordinary reality. The power of Animal Spirit Guides emanates from their instinct and wild nature, which is why completely domesticated pets are rarely considered Power Animals.
